Have you read this book?

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to poll the group to see who has read Half-Earth. It is a book by E.O. Wilson that’s premise is that we need to make major changes in order to save our planet. In order to understand what changes need to be made Wilson explains just what the biosphere is, why it's essential to our survival, and the threats that are now facing it. Based on this analysis, he explains actual steps that we will need to take to save our planet.

I am reading it (as well as other EarthX Earthlings) alongside the Ocean’s Conference, and it has been super interesting. Has anyone else read it? I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it so far!

If you haven’t read it, do you have any other environmental books that have been impactful for you? I would love to hear what they are, and why you think I should read it!

Thanks so much for your input in advance!

    Hi Annie!

I've been reading a lot lately and have included Half-Earth in my reading rotation! So far so good, great read and I encourage folks to read it! I would love to hear others thoughts if you've read this book and or what you're reading!

I haven't read this book yet, I will add it to my list. But anytime I start to think about how to change something, whether it's me or the actions of others, I refer back to one of the best books I've ever read on getting people to change. It's called "Switch: How to change when change is hard" by Chip and Dan Heath. Check it out here.  I believe it should be required reading for any non-profit trying to change the world. It's a way of looking at a problem, and the one of three things that has to happen in order to change a behavior. Really incredibly powerful book. I refer to it often in my professional and non-profit life.

    Hi Brady,

That is awesome, thank you for letting me know about that book! Out of curiosity, what was your biggest takeaway from the book?
