    Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful Earth Day! Our hope is that this community can become a hub of new ideas, innovations and best practices on how to save the planet that are shared by and for you. Since we have a lot of new members coming into the community, I thought it might be nice to have everyone introduce themselves to get to know each other! Please reply to this post with a little about yourself, I've added some ice breaker questions below if you want a head start!

    1. What is your favorite way to celebrate Earth Day?
    2. What is one practice that you have adopted to make your life a little greener
    3. What's a major industry challenge that you think deserves more of the public's attention?

I am excited to hear from you as we all get to know each other!

    Hi Y'all,

I'm Teia.  I am based in the Dallas area and am mama of three.  I am a lifestyle journalist and publisher at DallasSingleMom.com.  All of those keep me busy, but has also brought climate issues front to mind, as I want to leave a better world to my children. :)

My favorite way to celebrate Earth Day is to let my kids work in the garden and is to simply recognize that it is all of our job to make the world a little better in the ways that we can.  The industry challenge that I think deserves more attention is in our modes of transportation.  It makes an impact on a daily basis and on the small ways that we live our lives which ends up being a massive impact overall.

    Happy to be here.

    Teia

Hello, I'm Michelle Kelly from the North Dallas area. I currently am the office manager for a privately-business  meteorologist. I also do science communication volunteer work specializing in reptiles and amphibians. And my 9 year old daughter has wanted to be a paleontologist since she could talk, and loves frogs and turtles! Caring for the Earth and it's creatures are a big part of our everyday lives.

    1. What is your favorite way to celebrate Earth Day? - Creek Cleanup, just down the street. It's not happening this year and it really needs it.
    2. What is one practice that you have adopted to make your life a little greener. When I was 8 I wrestled with whether pens or pencils were more environmental and decided, despite loving my green ink pen, that pencils were more environmental. Now I'm 62, and I've been making decisions like that all my life.
    3. What's a major industry challenge that you think deserves more of the public's attention? The biggest challenges are getting plenty of attention, but probably not enough, since nothing's changed: Citizens United and income inequality.

Hi Everyone! So happy this conference was revised to be virtual :)

I am the founder of a friends group for Stemmons Park (located Oaklawn/I-35) to rehab the space and bring more sustainable elements to our community. I went in person to the conference last year and now that I'm working from home with CBRE--I'm excited to see even more this year virtually!

    1. What is your favorite way to celebrate Earth Day? Try to walk/bike rather than drive, use less electricity & cook from home.
    2. What is one practice that you have adopted to make your life a little greener Better about recycling at home!
    3. What's a major industry challenge that you think deserves more of the public's attention? Public-Private Park Beautification Partnerships!
Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

Hi all, I'm so excited that we've been able to find a way to come together and share our ideas. I am part of a nonprofit called American Prairie Corridor that is focused on preserving and restoring native prairie ecosystem across the central Great Plains from Texas to North Dakota. Our headquarters are here in Dallas. Ecological restoration is a powerful way to build a more sustainable future. My organization has had the pleasure of attending the Dallas expo the last couple of years and we learned so much from all of you, I'm looking forward to participating in all of the discussions. If you are interested in our organization, we are at www.americanprairiecorridor.org. Thank you, Tina

Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you all.
I am Margo Peyton.  I educate adults and children around the world in 13 countries with 26 amazing underwater events each year.  My company was created to provide adults and kids the ability to connect to other like-minded adventure travelers through educational ocean-oriented family vacations.  Families migrate from around the world to help learn about corals, sharks, history and cultures of faraway places and we practice sustainable tourism through beach clean-ups, coral restoration, clean water projects for villages as well as facilitate children meeting children around the world to share their cultures and address conservation issues in their countries.  I try to address the top issues in my industry which are Plastic pollution, overfishing and shark finning with each event we discuss these topics with the kids and adults as well as teach 15 CAC PADI training courses during our vacations.  I have been an ocean advocate for 30 years.  I speak at career days around the USA and schools around the world.  I love teaching and working with kids and my company Kids Sea Camp was created to share my love with my own kids.
