Grocery Shopping and Plastic

I try to reduce the amount of plastic that I use.  For example, when I go to the grocery store I use cloth bags for my produce and always carry bags with me so I don't have to take plastic shopping bags and I recycle plastic containers.

Knowing what we know about plastic --- here's the first question... why are grocery stores and consumer good companies still using copious amounts of plastic?

Oops -- forgot the second question... how can we encourage people to use less plastic in their shopping habits?

Great idea!  EarthX is working with businesses to encourage this kind of change.  Together, we can make change happen.
At EarthX, we say "CHANGE HAPPENS HERE"

Great idea. Also, rewards for shoppers for bringing their own canvas bags, for instance, and for purchasing those wonderful mesh veggie bags that I use both to shop and to store those (non-frig) items at home. I think Charles Butt must be onto this topic. Someone should ask he and his team.
